Things I thought! Week 1

When I watch the NFL, I think things. Here they are!

Every Sunday during the NFL Season, I sit down with 3-4 Friends, with 2-3 TV’s, and watch a ton of Football. Things come into my mind, here are a few..
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick should remain the starting Quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, even when Winston is eligible to play. Watching him tear apart that Saints defense was something. He took shots at the right time down field to DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans, and didn’t force it. When it wasn’t there, he found Chris Godwin or Adam Humphries. Not sure if Winston would do the same.

  • Sticking with that game, what happened to the Saints Defense? Didn’t they add one of the draft’s top pass rushers? Sure didn’t look like it. The Saints offense is great(they weren’t perfect), but asking them to put up 49 points a game isn’t a good strategy.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • The Shawn Williams ejection sucked. Football is a contact sport, and these things are going to happen. To eject someone for something that happens so fast is awful for the league. Fine him, add 15 yards, but don’t take a player out of the game for something that happens in a millisecond.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • How bad is Buffalo? The Quarterbacks are going to take a lot of blame, and that is totally fair, but that offensive line is bad. 6 sacks allowed, two interceptions thrown, and a 47-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The good news is that it’s over, the bad news is they play the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, who intercepted Nathan Peterman five times in the first half when the teams played last season. Early reports say that Peterman will start once again. At least it will be a fun tail gate.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Did anyone think that the Browns would make that Field Goal late in Overtime? Of course not! They kept it competitive, with a team that some people believe will play in the Super Bowl this year, and should have won the game. But we all knew they would “Brown it up” somehow. Maybe the loyal fans of Cleveland will win free beer next week?

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • The Dolphins and Titans deserve a lot of credit for what they did on Sunday. From the time they kicked off, and the final gun sounded, 7 hours and 8 minutes had passed. Talk about a marathon, and on top of that they provided an entertaining game. Full marks to all those players, coaches, and staff’s for keeping them ready to go.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Jimmy G is no longer undefeated, but we shouldn’t be surprised. The Vikings did what they do, holding Garoppolo and the Niners offense to 16 points. Luckily for them, they get the Detroit Lions next week. Easy win week, right? We’ll see.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Speaking of those Lions, they made me look bad on Twitter last night. When they were down 31-17, after giving up a touchdown, and then a pick 6, I tweeted  ” Not sure how this gets any worse for the Lions”. Swing and a miss for Old Connor on that one. A 48-17 loss isn’t a good look for Matt Patricia

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Could the Jets be for real? Maybe, Right now I’ll lean with Lions just being a tire-fire and allowing a team to figure out their play calls.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Philip Rivers receivers are going to be motivated heading into Buffalo in Week 2. Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams both had multiple drops that would have led to points, in their Week 1 loss to the Chiefs. With that being said, 2017 First Round Pick Mike Williams had 5 receptions for 81 yards, and the trust may be growing between he and Rivers. Might be a good Fantasy pick up if you’re weak at WR.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Tyreek Hill is a freak. He had a 91 yard punt return, and 58 yard reception in Sunday’s win over the Chargers. I always looked at him as a Dante Hall type of player, but he is a legit receiver in the NFL. Andy Reid will continue to find creative ways to put the ball in his hands.

——————————————————————————————————————————

  • Saquon Barkley is going to be very annoying for opposing fans. Jacksonville bottled him up for the majority of the game, but he still found a way to bust a 68-yard run and get his 100 yards. That’s going up against one of the best front 7’s in the league, so have fun with him on Sunday night, Cowboys.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

  • Is Case Keenum good? If you know, comment below! 3 Touchdowns and 329 yards, but 3 interceptions against the 2018 Seahawks defense. We’ll find out next weekend when they take on the Raven I guess?

——————————————————————————————————————————

And most of all, I’m  just glad that Football is finally back!
